Amaravati: In a significant move, the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Friday decided to remove plots allotted to industrialists by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC)—after acquiring assigned lands from the 22A category, enabling allottees to obtain bank loans for working capital and expansion.
Addressing the media, Housing, Information and Public Relations Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy said nearly 75,000 acres of land continued to remain under the 22A category in revenue records, causing difficulties for allottees in securing bank loans against their title deeds.
He explained that even after paying the required amount to APIIC and registering the title deeds in their names, many industrialists were facing hurdles during the mutation process.
Following the intervention of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who chaired the Cabinet meeting, a decision was taken to expedite orders removing these lands from the government lands list, thereby facilitating access to institutional finance.
During the meeting, the CM also reportedly hinted to Cabinet colleagues about holding local body elections within the next six months. The Cabinet also decided to release financial incentives worth Rs300 crore to 3,500 micro-entrepreneurs under the One Family One Entrepreneur policy. The incentives are aimed at generating employment under the Chief Minister’s Employment Scheme. The Cabinet also proposed renaming the scheme as the Chief Minister’s Entrepreneurship Development Programme. The Cabinet further granted administrative approval for the construction of a Telugu Cultural Centre in Amaravati on five acres at a cost of Rs119 crore. The centre will feature a 2,000-seat auditorium, a 100-seat open-air theatre, and a museum showcasing Telugu heritage.
